We left Salt Lake around 1:30pm on Thursday and began our drive to Montana. The drive took about 7 hours and we arrived at the University of Montana around 9ish.
On Friday we got up and were lucky enough to eat some dorm cafeteria food before we headed off to snowboard at Discovery. Discovery was a secluded mountain, about an hour and a half away from the University. It was only 25$ for a half day ticket, so we each bought one, then rode the rest of the afternoon. There was still about 6inches of fresh snow around the mountain, mostly in the trees, but overall it was nice to ride somewhere new for a change. On the way back from Discovery we stopped to check out some hot springs off the highway that we heard were popular to bathe in. We found the spring, but the water was only about 80 degrees and it was a bit too chilly outside to get in. Near the hot springs were a few big horned sheep that that looked unfriendly. We didn't get near enough to bother them, but I still kept checking back to make sure they weren't getting any closer to us.
Saturday we went on a mission to find another set of hot springs, which were a little further away. We arrived and completed the snowy mile and a half hike to the pools. There were 3 pools to choose from, we chose the second and soaked until the sun went down.
On Sunday we packed our selves with our last dorm meal before heading home around 2:00pm. The drive home went by quick and we got back around 9ish. The overall trip to Montana was a success and we would defiantly go back in the spring or summer to check out the fly fishing/rafting scene, which is supposed to be one of the best out there.
The Hot Springs sound like fun! We would love that!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe you got that close to the big horned sheep. Nice pic.
